Gecko Galz: July Samples

Hello Crafty Friends!

Today I'm showing my July Gecko Galz samples.

This month our Customer Challenge  is A Mermaid's Garden and so my first cards are on that theme:

I made a shaped card using a large die and black card. I chose a beautiful image from the Pretty Mermaids collage set - I love the iridescent-look of the image and added some gold embossing powder to bring this out. I rounded the corners of the image and adhered it to patterned paper from the In Marble Halls Paper Pack. Some black card, die cut leaves and flowers were added and a jumbo pearl.

Here is the inside:

My next card uses a vintage digital stamp (SS47) from the Splish Splash stamp set:

I feel that there is a story behind this image, but I am unaware of what it is. I coloured the image with marker pens and added plenty sparkle with a Quickie pen and iridescent glitter. I matted the image on black card and used patterned paper from the La Isla Bonita Paper Pack as a background. This was layered onto black and then green paper and added to a card base. Some green sparkly trim was adhered beneath the image and three crystal gems at the top right side.

This image shows the sparkle a little better:

My next project is a card featuring a silhouette image (SO6) from the Charming Silhouettes Stamp Set:

Again I made a shaped card out of black card. I chose a silhouette stamp, printed it out and dried it with a heat tool. I then inked it with a blending tool and distress inks. Once it was dry I clear heat embossed it to give it some shine. I matted it onto black card and then onto patterned paper from the La Isla Bonita Paper Pack. Die cut foliage and flowers were added along with some crystal gems. I decorated the inside too:

My final project is a small collage:

I had my eye on this beautiful image of a woman from the Deco Art collage set. I decided to put together a collage and so set about finding some green Gecko Galz images (some were from the La Boheme Digital Kit and some from the Parisian Garden Digital Kit). The background paper is from the Gatsby Paper Pack - I distressed and inked the edges and layered it onto ivory card which was also distressed and inked. I started by placing some raffia ribbon across the paper and added some cream cotton lace.
The images were fussy cut and the edges inked with Vintage Photo distress ink. I shaped the flowers with a stylus and foam pad and added a small pearl in the centre of each. The butterflies were also shaped and just the centres glued down. The words are from the Charming Words collage set. Green and ivory ribbons were tied around the binder ring clips.

Vera Lane Studio: Frida and Blooms

Hello Friends!

I'm here today to share my DT post for Vera Lane Studio. Continuing with the July theme of Blossoms, I made a card and two tags featuring some of the Vera Lane blooms.

Here is my card featuring Frida from the Coyoacan set.

It was anniversary of Frida Kahlo's birthday on the 6th July (she was born 110 years ago) and there have been lots of celebrations. The one that caught my eye was the attempt to set a Guinness World Record for the number of people dressing up as Frida. The 'Frida Fest' was held at the Dallas Museum of Art and I would have loved to have been there! Hundreds of men, women and children turned up. Here is a link to the news with photos and a time lapse video of the participants: Frida Fest: Set a Record.

My little card is in honour of Frida!
She's not dressed in her traditional colours, but I think she suits them :)
She is coloured in marker pens and fussy cut. The blooms are from the same set and I arranged them in an arch before printing. Individual blooms were coloured, shaped and layered on top of the arch of roses. Tiny gold crystal gems were placed in the centre of each flower. The background was made with Brusho powders, spritzed with water. Washi tape was used to 'ground' Frida.

Next I have a couple of tags featuring the Doodle Garden blooms:

I used watercolour card and applied' Brea Reese glitter ink in Ocean Green, gifted to me by the lovely Stephanie from The Whimsical Wonky Watercolourist. This ink is so very sparkly - it is gorgeous and no photo can do it justice! It needs to be seen in real life to be properly appreciated. I cut the card into a label/tag shape using a Crea-Nest-Lies XXL Label die and mounted it onto a white tag shape.
I added fibres and lace and some clear gems to the background and finished with a Tim Holtz chit chat word and a butterfly from the Doodle Collection. I placed the tags onto black card. They would be perfect as money wallets or for gift cards.

Vera Lane Studio: Dance Studio

Hello Friends!

I'm here today to share my DT post for Vera Lane Studio
There is a new set of digital stamps in the shop today. Please pop over to check out the lovely Dance Studio, an 8 piece digi set including 3 sentiments.

As our monthly theme is Blossoms, I added some flowers to my projects with the new releases.

First, I made a spinner card - appropriate, I thought, for this cute little ballerina!

I printed out two ballerina images and two dancing cat images, making sure to flip each image so that they could be placed back to back. The images were coloured with markers and fussy cut. One ballerina was adhered to a length of stretchy cord and the second ballerina glued back to back. This cord was taped to the inside of the card.
Next, I made an aperture card, placed patterned paper on the front and also the back of the aperture so that the tape anchors were masked. The dancing cat was adhered to overlap the aperture. She was also adhered to the inside of the card:

Next, I made two tags using the Dance Studio glass door image:

I applied modelling paste through a brick patterned stencil and inked it with Vintage Photo distress ink. Some raffia ribbon trim and cheesecloth were adhered to the tag along with the images, coloured with marker pens and popped on foam pads. Leafy ribbon trim was adhered along side the door and some paper flowers, with added sequins and pearls, were dotted around. Some tufts of grass, from the Blossom set, and birds, from the Woodland Props, set were added. Baker's twine was threaded through the top of the tags.
